# Restart

Meridian doesn't have a separate "restart" button. Because your app runs on Cloud Run and Meridian deploys [by image digest](/deployment), the equivalents of a restart are a redeploy or a rollback:

* **Redeploy**: trigger a new [deployment](/deployment) of the current commit to roll out a fresh set of instances.
* **Rollback**: shift traffic back to a previously succeeded release, using its existing revision with no rebuild.

For a transient issue, a redeploy replaces the running revision; for a bad release, a rollback restores the last good one. Autoscaling handles instance churn under normal load. See [Autoscaling](/autoscaling).
