Discounts let you offer merchants a reduced price on your plans: a launch promo, a win-back offer, or a deal for a specific store. A merchant redeems a code on the pricing page, and Meridian applies the discount to their Shopify subscription charge. Discounts are part of the Plan Builder. The discounts list is searchable by name or code. Global search finds the same fields across every app in your organization.

Kinds of discount

  • Percentage: a percent off (0–100%).
  • Fixed amount: a flat amount off, defined in your base currency and converted to the merchant’s currency at checkout.
Each discount runs either forever or for a limited number of billing periods.

Configuring a discount

A discount has a code (or none, if it’s automatic), a name, and:
  • Availability: all customers, or specific stores by domain.
  • Plan restriction: limit it to specific plans, or apply to any.
  • Redemption limit: cap the total number of redemptions.
  • Automatic: apply without a code. Automatic discounts and codes are mutually exclusive; when more than one automatic discount could apply, the one that yields the lowest price wins.

How redemption works

Meridian resolves a discount server-side from a single source of truth, so the merchant’s price preview can never disagree with the charge. On subscribe, it validates the discount (status, plan restriction, store eligibility, redemption cap, one successful redemption per store), reserves a redemption, and injects the discount into Shopify’s subscription creation, as a percentage or a fixed amount, with a duration limit for limited-time discounts.
