A passkey signs you in with your device’s own authentication (Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello, or a hardware security key) instead of a password. Passkeys are phishing-resistant, so a registered passkey also counts as a second factor for 2FA.
Register a passkey
From your account security settings, add a passkey. Your browser prompts you to create one with the device or key you choose. You can register more than one, for example your laptop and a hardware key as backup. Each passkey is listed with when it was added, and you can remove any of them.
Sign in with a passkey
On the sign-in screen, choose to sign in with a passkey and confirm on your device. No password or authenticator code is needed.
Passkeys and 2FA enforcement
Because a passkey satisfies the two-factor requirement on its own, registering one is enough to unlock an organization that enforces 2FA. While your organization enforces 2FA, Meridian won’t let you remove your last remaining factor. Delete a passkey only if you have another passkey or an authenticator app in place.
